GALPR Salutes Miami-Dade Rescue Rail Road Volunteers

Every week, over 500 homeless pets are lost, strayed, abandoned, or relinquished, and arrive through Miami-Dade Shelters. Without rescue efforts from pet rescue organizations, only 1 in 5 have any hope to survive.

This is a statistic from one Florida shelter. Concider multiplying that by 100’s statewide and 1000’s nationwide.

In just one Miami kill shelter 200 dogs are generally euthanized each day!

Rescue organizations must exist in order to help the pets that are left behind.

Miami-Dade Rescue Rail Road (MDRR) is a network of volunteers who transport homeless pets and sometimes farm animals, mainly from high-kill shelters, to rescue groups in Florida and Georgia. These rescue groups rehabilitate the animals physically and emotionally into a healthy state to then be adopted into their eternal homes. Though this process is rewarding, it is also heart-wrenching to care for the sick, emaciated, parasite-ridden, and fearful... with some literally on death's door, either from health or their last few minutes before their euthanize time, to allow room for a possible lucky one to make it home.

You can help MDRR in various ways:

  1. Volunteer to transport a few crated pets from your county to  the next
  2. Donate pet kennels, crates, and drip water feeders
  3. Join Us At Our Yahoo Group  to find out where and when you can help
  4. Foster a pet over night
  5. Spread the word about MDRR and post needy pets via email
  6. Donate money for supplies
